Huntley and Palmer Biscuit tin with real sewing tools and buttons
Workbasket - Beyond Biscuits
Linocut with found objects, 44 x 34cm

Workbasket - definition
A small container in which things used for sewing, such as needles, pins, and thread are kept.

Many a home has a Huntley and Palmer biscuit tin. Once the original contents was long ago consumed, the life of the tin continued as a place to store sewing kits and buttons. This particular shape of tin now has the added identification "workbasket".

This is my very own Huntley and Palmer workbasket.

Made to mark the 200 years of the Huntley and Palmer legacy, these works were exhibited at The Turbine House, Riverside Museum at Blake's Lock, Reading, "Biscuits and Bricks" exhibition, 9 – 18 September 2022.

Curated by Jenny Halstead and Linda Saul, as part of the Heritage Open Days.
